Baby strollers and wheelchairs must be checked.
Oversized and overweight items will only be accepted subject to the available space on board on the day of departure.
^Infant refers to a passenger under 2 years old who does not occupy a seat.
Cabin Baggage
For the safety and comfort of all our passengers, and to ensure compliance with the Civil Aviation Regulations, each passenger (excluding infants) can bring one cabin bag not exceeding 56x36x23 cm (22"x14"x9") in size. These dimensions also cover wheels, handles and side pockets. The total weight of each cabin baggage must not be more than 5 kg (11 lb).
Prohibited Items For Checked and Cabin Baggage
For safety reasons, dangerous goods such as those listed below must not be carried in passenger baggage (checked or unchecked):
attaché briefcases with installed alarm devices;
explosives, ammunition, fireworks and flares;
gas and gas containers, e.g. butane, propane, acetylene, oxygen (except air cylinder for medical use);
flammable liquid fuel, e.g. petrol/gasoline, diesel, lighter fluid, alcohol, ethanol;
articles which are easily ignited, non-safety matches;
poisons such as arsenic, cyanide, insecticides, weed killers;
radioactive materials;
corrosive substances such as acid, mercury, chorine;
any other substances not covered above, but which during air transport may pose dangers (e.g. magnetized or irritating substances).
Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department
Passengers are prohibited from carrying the following items aboard aircraft: Knife and knife-like object of any length and description; or bladed items, including but not limited to household cutlery, cutters, scissors or razor blades.
General Administration of Civil Aviation of China
From 7 April 2008 onwards, passengers travelling from any destinations in mainland China are prohibited from carrying cigarette lighters and matches aboard civil aircraft.
Cabin Baggage Restrictions on Liquids, Aerosols & Gels
Various countries have implemented restrictions on the carriage of liquids, aerosols and gels in compliance with the new guidelines laid down by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The restrictions are as follows:
All liquids, gels, aerosols in cabin baggage have to be carried in containers with a capacity not greater than 100ml. Liquids, gels, aerosols carried in containers larger than 100ml are not to be accepted, even if the container is only partially-filled;
Containers have to be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding one litre. The containers must fit comfortably within the transparent plastic bag, which should be completely sealed;
The plastic bag has to be presented separately from other cabin baggage for visual examination at the screening point. Only one transparent plastic bag per passenger is permitted; and
Exemptions would be made for medications, baby milk/ food and special dietary requirements subject to verification.
The following countries/cities have imposed the above restrictions on departing flights.
All liquid, aerosols and gels are banned from cabin baggage.
These items are to be placed in the checked baggage and shall be confiscated if found at the final screening point.

Baggage Liability*
Hong Kong Airlines and Hong Kong Express Airways are not liable for the unchecked baggage of passengers.
No liability is accepted for the loss of money, jewellery or other similar valuables from checked baggage.
